Green Energy

The Climate Action Center Karachi (CAC) is committed to driving Karachi’s transition to clean, renewable energy. Through research, advocacy, and strategic collaborations, we work to make solar and other renewable technologies more accessible and affordable. Our efforts focus on expanding decentralized solar adoption, integrating green energy solutions into buildings, developing mini-grid and off-grid frameworks, and advocating for policy reforms that support renewable energy. We also engage with financial institutions to promote sustainable financing models, link renewables with carbon credits, and raise public awareness through training and digital campaigns.

By driving these initiatives, the Re-energize team is paving the way for a more energy-secure and green Karachi.

Our Projects

1. Greening Campaign

The Citywide Green Energy Campaign is a grassroots initiative advocating for fair electricity pricing and a shift to renewable energy. Through a strong community network, the campaign challenges KE’s high electricity rates and promotes a petition urging the utility to adopt affordable solar solutions. This movement aims to reduce the financial burden on residents and drive Karachi toward a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.

2. Solar Access & Financing

We collaborate with banks and financial institutions to develop financing models that make solar energy more accessible for households and businesses. By addressing upfront costs and simplifying solar adoption, we’re enabling a broader transition to clean energy.

3. Decentralized Renewable Solutions

Our research-driven pilot projects focus on decentralized renewable energy systems, including mini-grids and off-grid solutions. These initiatives demonstrate the potential of solar energy in urban and rural settings, providing scalable models for sustainable power generation.

On the Ground:

50 Community Meetings in 25 Towns

As part of our ongoing campaign, we’ve launched 50 community meetings across 25 towns in Karachi. These gatherings are building local awareness, strengthening networks, and mobilizing collective action for clean energy. The conversations we’re having today are fueling the transformation of tomorrow.

What We Do

At the Climate Action Center, our work focuses on creating real, practical change to make clean energy easier for everyone. Here’s how we’re doing it:

We conduct in-depth studies on solar energy, battery storage, and decentralized power solutions. By analyzing cost-effectiveness, efficiency, and resilience in urban and rural settings, we provide data-driven insights to accelerate clean energy adoption across Pakistan.

We work closely with financial institutions and industry experts to develop sustainable financing models for renewable energy projects. Our partnerships with organizations like, Bank of Punjab, to help bring clean energy solutions within reach for households, businesses, and communities.

CAC plays a key role in shaping energy policies that support renewable energy expansion. Through direct engagement with policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders, we advocate for reforms that promote solar adoption, fair energy pricing, and investment in sustainable infrastructure.

Educating the public is central to our mission. Through initiatives like the KE Greening Campaign, we empower communities with knowledge and practical tools to transition to renewable energy. Our outreach efforts include workshops, awareness drives, and digital resources to help individuals and businesses embrace clean energy solutions.
